THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, September 30, 2006.

Richard "Dick" Eugene Morck, 84, formerly of Gilbert and Nevada and currently of North English, died Friday, Sept. 29, following a long illness at his home in North English. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, at North English Christian Church with Dr. Blair Yager officiating. Graveside services with military rites will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, in Rest Haven Cemetery,West Des Moines.

Richard Eugene Morck was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Gilbert, the son of Sophus H. and Clara Petersen Morck. He served in the U.S. Navy on a minesweeper during World War II.

On Feb. 14, 1946, he married Edith Louise Brooks in Star City, Ark. They lived most of their married life in Story County until moving to North English in 2001. He worked nearly 27 years as a painter and silk screen fabricator for the Iowa Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and had attended North English Christian Church. He was also a member of the Ames VFW. He was a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan, loved fishing and bird watching.

He is survived by his wife Edith of North English; one son, Robert Morck (Kim), of Aplington; six daughters: Kathleen South (Daniel) of Bremerton, Wash.; (twins) Carolyn Johnson (James) and Caren Wolfe ( Darrell), both of Des Moines; Rose Fink (Doug), of Wheaton, Ill.; Mary Yeager (Blair), of Chesapeake, Va.; and Evelyn Kotouc (Jimmie), of North English; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother Sophus Jr. Morck, of Boone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Galen Morck; and one sister Betty Freese.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English.
