THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, September 14, 2006.

Michael R. Besch, 48, of Apple Valley, Minn., died after a short illness at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Road, in Apple Valley. Inurnment will be in Ames.

Mike enjoyed the outdoors, car races, traveling, especially to Mexico, sports and, most of all, his friends and family. We will always treasure our memories with him at Birch Lake. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, DeeAnn; three children, Matthew, Stephanie and Alyssa; his mother, Nancy; one sister, Laura Bauer; his mother-in-law, Bev Rabbitt; one brother-in-law, David Rabbitt; two sisters-in-law, Denise (Dave) Bonzer and Darci (Kurt) Steckelberg; one uncle, Fred (Louise) Warnimont; one great-aunt, Catherine (Paul) Schoenau; seven nieces and nephews; and six cousins.

He was preceded by his father, Ralph; one sister, Theresa Besch; his father-in-law, Chuck Rabbitt; and his grandparents.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family for Blastomycosis Research.

Henry W. Anderson Mortuary of Apple Valley, Minn., is in charge of arrangements.
