Matthew Williams

Matthew Dean Williams went from the loving arms of his parents, Steven and Karen Williams, into the heavenly arms of his heavenly Father on August 26, 2006. He died at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames surrounded by his parents and long time caregivers.

Matthew was born January 12, 1995 and faced many challenges. He faced them with courage and brought into our lives much love and joy. He touched all who came to know him and was an inspiration to many. He taught us that even though God created us all out of the dust of the earth, we need to remember that God also breathed into us His spirit. Matthew's spirit was strong throughout his life and will continue to inspire us.

Matthew enjoyed music and being read to. He especially enjoyed Bible stories, Lassie and Harry Potter. He was a big Harry Potter fan. During walks along the bike trails in his wheelchair, he was able to enjoy nature. He took many visits to the Minnesota and Blank Park Zoos and enjoyed swimming at the Children's Convalescent Home in Johnston. When he was four years old, he and his parents took a trip to "Give Kids the World". There he met Winnie the Pooh and all his Disney friends. At Animal Kingdom he danced in his wheelchair to the music of Lion King. One of the dancers gave him a feather, which he cherished all his life. He swam in the Atlantic Ocean and visited the Kennedy Space Center. He enjoyed a whole day at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot Center.

Matthew was a very loving child and loved his pet cats and collie dogs. He had a positive influence on people and brought out the best in people.

He is survived by his parents, Steve and Karen Williams; his brother, Andrew Jeremiah Williams; his grandparents, Elizabeth Williams of Des Moines and Marcella Partridge of Ames, and his aunts and uncles: Kenny and Deanne Lee of Waukee; Bill and Coleen Chapman of Shawnee, OK; Bill Partridge of Des Moines; Keith Partridge of Nevada; Anita Williams of Stuart, and Mike and Debra Williams of Des Moines.

He joins in heaven, his grandparents, Dean and Marjorie Partridge and Ross A. Williams.

Funeral Services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Huxley on Saturday, September 2nd at 1:00 p.m.

Visitation will be held at Bacon Funeral Home & Crematory in Nevada on Friday, September 1st from 6:00 PM to 8:00 p.m.
