Ruth Margaret Glasgow

Ruth Margaret (Billings) Glasgow passed away April 24, 2006. She was born May 9, 1912, to Emma J. and Edward J. Billings of Nevada, Iowa, and passed away peacefully at Elim care home in Princeton, Minnesota where she had been a resident for the past four years.

Ruth Billings, met and wed her lifetime partner, Lester Glasgow in the early 1930's and they were married for over 60 years when Lester died in June 1996. Throughout her remaining years his absence was greatly missed.

Ruth and Lester raised their children on the family farm in Shipley, Iowa, and eventually moved to neighboring Nevada, Iowa. Ruth worked at the Reuben H. Donnelly Company until her retirement. Ruth and Lester spent many happy years of retirement, living at Holiday Lake in Brooklyn, Iowa. They eventually moved from the lake into Brooklyn. They greatly enjoyed visits from friends and family sharing coffee and Ruth's much loved homemade cookies and donuts, lots of laughs, occasional tears, heartfelt warmth and great deal of love. She eventually moved to Minnesota where she lived out her remaining life close to loving family members. Ruth's death came just two weeks prior to her 94th birthday.

Ruth was preceded in death by all her siblings, Roy Billings, Ala, Earl Billings, Iowa, Helen Post, Ca., and Lois (Billies) Gardner, Wy.

She is survived by one son, Ronald Glasgow of Princeton, Minnesota and four daughters, Shirley Alverson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Donna Childs of Surprise, Az., Bonny Settle of Aurora, Co., and Mary Nissen of Kettering, Ohio. She and Lester were blessed with 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grand child.

Internment will be at the Kent cemetery at Holiday Lake on June 17, 2006, at 10:00 am. The family request donations in lieu of flowers are forwarded to the Elim Care Center, 701 1st Street, Princeton, Minnesota 55371. Cards can be fo
