Jerry O'Donnell died at his home in this city (Nevada) Sunday morning April 26, 1903, after a protracted illness which he had bravely withstood much longer than to very many of his friends really seemed possible. His death therefore, though greatly regretted, brings no surprise. His funeral Tuesday at the Catholic Church was conducted by Father Nichols and was attended by a large concourse of friends.
Jerry was born in Calumet City, Ill., in 1860 and was therefore about 43 years of age. He came with his parents to Story County in 1866, and always continued to reside here. He entered early the employ of the Northwestern Railroad, and for most of his active years he was day operator at the station here. In this position he came in contact with almost the whole community, and his courtesy, good temper and general efficiency came to be very widely and heartily appreciated. He was universally liked and respected.
He was married about 1886 to Miss Annie Collins of Emmetsburg and she with four children survives him, as do also two brothers and a sister.
