Martin O'Donnell, 97, for some time known as one of the oldest men in the county, died Wednesday afternoon at half after one o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James McCoy. His body was laid to rest this forenoon in St. James Cemetery by the side of his good wife, Mary who was called home January 24, 1915. The funeral service was conducted by his pastor, Father M. Nichols, of Nevada, at St. Mary's Church (Colo) at 10 o'clock. He had been failing for some years but the illness resulting in his death was not of long duration.
Seven children were born to this worthy couple; two dying in infancy; their daughter, Mary, passing away at the age of six years during the residence at Mechanicsville, Iowa, and the son, Martin B. O'Donnell at the home in Colo in November 20, 1915, but a few months after the passing of the mother. He leaves one son, James of Colo; two daughters, Mrs. James (Sarah) McCoy of Colo and Mrs. Thomas (Anna) Dolan, as well as nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
In the passing of Martin O'Donnell the community loses one of the finest men to whom the community was deeply indebted for he left the world a fine family and the memory of his splendid, upright character.
