Thomas O'Donnell, probably our most aged citizen, died Sunday afternoon (21 Jul 1901) at his home in Nevada, as a result of great age and the extreme and long continued high temperature. He was born in County Mayo, Ireland in 1798; removed to England in 1846; and immigrated to this country in 1856, settling in Pennsylvania. In 1865 he became a citizen of Story County and resident on a farm north of Colo, and had from there moved to Nevada several years ago. He was a man of activity and many excellent traits of character. He had a wide circle of friends and his funeral services conducted in the Catholic Church yesterday morning by Father Nichols were very largely attended. The burial was in the Catholic Cemetery of this city.

Mr. O'Donnell is survived by his wife, one son, John, and four daughters, Miss Bridget, at home; Mrs. J. R.(Anna) McCoy, Mrs. Dennis (Elizabeth) Maloney and Mrs. James (Margaret) Doyle. (Nevada Representative---24 July 1901)
