TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, Thursday, May 18, 2006.

Hubert H. Twit, 94, of Slater died May 16, 2006 at the Madrid Home in Madrid. Funeral services will be 10:30 Friday, May 19, 2006 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater. Burial will follow in the Slater City Cemetery.

Hubert was born on January 24, 1912 on a farm near Slater to Arnie B. and Randie (Halverson) Twit. He graduated from Slater High School in 1930. On April 11, 1933 he married Helen L. Frazier.

Hubert farmed all of his life until retiring. He was an active citizen with great pride and love for his community and was baptized and confirmed member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater. He served 17 years on the Story County 4-H Board, 13 years n the Farmers Cooperative Creamery of Slater and was president in 1970 when it merged with Mississippi Valley Milk Producers Association. For eight years he was on the board of directors of the Sheldahl Cooperative and president for a period of time.

Hubert cherished his friends and loved to tell stories and reminisce especially at MSU. He was proud of his heritage and those who were a part of it.

Survivors include his wife Helen of Madrid; a daughter, Ruth Sampson of Story City; two sons, A. David (Darla) Twit of Johnston and Robert (Vicki) Twit of Ames; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gladys Williams of Sun City, CA and Arlene Jacobson of Story City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Everett and a son-in-law, Dale Sampson.

Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be Friday after 9:30 at the church. Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater in handling arrangements.
