Old Mr. Watney is very ill and it is thought that he cannot live through tonight (Thursday). A paralitic stroke is the prime cause of his serious condition. His many friends hope for his recovery.

DIED-Eliert Watney died at his home in Roland, last Saturday at 11:30 and was buried Monday, Feb. 3rd, after services at the east church at 11 o'clock. The services were held by Rev. Holter. Mr. Watney was born in Stavanger, Norway, in 1824 and was 72 years of age. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn for him, Mrs. Henry Thompson, Mrs. Jos. J. Twedt, Miss Sopha and Charles Watney, all of Howard township. He has been a resident of this county since 1849, when he located in Chicago. Thirty-one years ago, himself and wife, whom he married the next year after arriving in America, located on a farm east of Roland, where they lived until a few years ago when they moved to town, where they have since resided. Mr. Watney has been a patient sufferer for a number of years, having been afflicted by a stroke of paralysis, which ultimately resulted in his death. He was a kind and concienteous husband and father, a good neighbor and a loyal citizen. We offer sympathy to the sorrowing relatives.
