SAD ACCIDENT
A Child Smothered to Death in an ElevatorJust as we were going to press, news reaches us of one of the saddest accidents that has startled our commnity for years, and on hastening to the scene of the accident found that little Nora, a three year old daughter of J. A. Britson had been found at the bottom of the dump bin of the Stole elevator, dead. A great deal of grain had been coming in and the child had probably wandered from her home, near the elevaor, and while paying near the chute, fell down the opening and into the oats, and as the elevator was running the child gradually sank down into the the oats and was smothered to death. The failure of the oats to fill the cups resulted in an examination of the machinery by the workman and the finding of the dead body of the child by E. R. Eide. No marks were on the body with the exception of a few on the lower limbs, probably caused by coming in contact with the running elevator cups. Mr. Stole was trhough the building but a short time before and saw no chidlren playing near and apparently nothing wrong. This is indeed a sad and terrible blow, shocking the entire community and almost prostrating the parents with grief.
