Riley A. French

Riley A. French, 79, died at his home in Nevada Saturday. Riley A. French was a son of Henry Clay and Sarah French born on a farm south of Ames, Sept. 7, 1863. He was raised in the county later over in Johnson Grove. He served several years in the U.S. Regular Army in Montana. After his marriage the family located in Nebraska, where they made their home for 21 years, and then moving to Florida for seven years. With their son Floyd, and one daughter, they returned to Nevada 21 years ago and this has been the family home since. The daughter died about six years ago. He is survived by his wife, the sons, Floyd of Nevada and Merle of Cedar Rapids, Nebr., and a number of grandchildren.

R. A. French Dies Early Today After Long Illness

Riley A. French, 79, died at his home 1635 Seventh street at 6 a.m. today after a lingering illness. Mr. French, native son of Story county, had ben in failing health for a number of years and his passing was not unexpected. The funeral rites will be held Monday afternoon at the Morfoot funeral home with Dr. J. O. Simon of Memorial Lutheran church in charge. Riley A. French was a son of Henry Clay and Sarah French, born on a farm south of Ames, September 7, 1863. He was raised in the county, later over in Johnson Grove. He served several years in the United States regular army in Montana. After his marriage the family located in Nebraska where they made their home for twenty-one years and from there to Florida, where seven years was spent. With their son Floyd and one daughter, they returned to Nevada 21 years ago and this had been the family home since. The daughter passed away about 6 years ago. He is survived by his wife, the sons Floyd of Nevada and Merle of Cedar Rapids, Neb., and a number of grandchildren.

Mother Sarah's maiden name Simmons, wife is Addie May Chapman
