Funeral Saturday for Miss French

Funeral services for Miss Tena French, who died at Des Moines on Thursday, December 16, were held Saturday forenoon at the Bishop Funeral Home in this city and interment was in the Nevada cemetery. Death occured at the Des Moines General Hospital, where she had been ill for some time. Tena French was the daughter of Isaac S. French and Rebecca Hague-French, born on a farm east of this city, February 3, 1852. With the exception of the past 12 years, when she made her home in Des Moines, she had lived in or near Nevada. During her residence in Des Moines she was a consistent member of the Lutheran church and also a member of the O. E. S. She leaves to mourn her death, one brother, four sisters and numerous other relatives. The brother is Scott French of Des Moines and her sisters are Mrs. Mary A. Cook of Fifth street this city; Mrs. John Weidner of Des Moines, Mrs. Eletha Norris-Morton of Oelwein and Mrs. Olivia Heston of Lynch, Neb. The services were conducted by Rev. Helms of the Lutheran church of Fernald and interment was in the local cemetery.

Miss Tena French Died in Des Moines

Former NEvada Woman Will Be Buried Here Saturday Forenoon.

Miss Tena French, age about 68 years, a native of Story county died, Thursday at the General hospital in Des Moines, after an illness of approximately 6 months. The funeral service will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home, corner Fifth and Lincoln avenue, Saturday forenoon at 10:30, in charge of Rev. Helms of the Lutheran church at Fernald. Interment will be held in the Nevada cemetery. Miss French was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac French, pioneers of this county, being born on a farm four miles east of this city. She lived in or near Nevada until about 15 years ago when she went to Des Moines, since which time she was employed as a housekeeper until her health broke down. Her parents have both been dead for years and she leaves one brother and three sisters, they being Mrs. Mary Cook of Fifth and Avenue M, this city, Mrs. John Weidner and Scott French of Des Moines and Mrs. Lethas Norris-Morton of Olwein. All will be here for the service. Miss French is well rememberred among the older residents of Nevada, Nevada township and Colo.
