THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, April 4, 2006.

Myrl Eileen Lauffer was born April 27, 1918, near Maxwell to D.S. and Vera Eatwell Huntrods. She graduated from Collins Consolidated School and attended Iowa State Teachers College, receiving a special rural teachers certificate. She taught rural schools in Story and Jasper counties. She married Milo S. Lauffer of Thayer May 10, 1941. After her marriage, she worked at Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego and Scott's Tent and Awning in Marshalltown. After World War II and Milo's return home, she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary. After retiring, she worked as a volunteer at Horseshoe Bend, Ark., Public Library and Nevada Elementary School Library.

She is survived by her husband, Milo of Nevada; one daughter, Beth (and Robert) Newcomb of Denver, Colo.; two sisters: Donna Ose of Collins and Lucile White of Nevada; and three brothers: William (and Joyce) Huntrods, Roger (and Netha) Huntrods of Collins and Donald (and Judy) Huntrods of St. Charles.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Margaret Struthers, Iris Lawson and Mary Lee Huntrods.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Burial will be in Collins Evergreen Cemetery. No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be in Myrl's honor to the donor's choice of charity.

Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
