THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, March 28, 2006.

Sylvia Huntley, 84, of Story City died Saturday, March 25, at Bethany Manor. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at Adams Funeral Home with Chaplain Sandy Anenson officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Sylvia was born on May 2, 1921, in Plainville, Wis., to Henry Franklin and Mae (McLaughlin) McLaughlin. She lived most of her life in the Ames and Des Moines areas. She worked as a bookkeeper at Singer Sewing Company. She married Edward Benton Huntley Sept. 24, 1946, in Albany, Mo. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and also playing cards, cooking and bowling.

Sylvia is survived by four daughters, Lona (Mike) Shepley of Cass Lake, Minn., Linda (Jim) Sampson of Ruthven, Janet Grant of Ankeny and Sharon Huntley of Des Moines; one brother, Douglas McLaughlin of Porterville, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; one great grandson, Jacob Horst; her parents, Frank and Mae McLaughlin; six brothers, Frank Jim, Cyruss, Richard, Tom and Bill McLaughlin; and four sisters, June Longshore, Polly Scheuermann, Blossom Tanka and Virginia Martin.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Adams Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.

Adams Funeral Home in Ames is in charge of arrangements.
