Richard Ross, 78, of Ames, died today. Services are pending with Stevens Memorial Chapel.

THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, March 24, 2006.

Richard Allen Ross, 78, of Ames died peacefully Thursday, March 23, in his home of leukemia. A memorial service will be hat 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

He was loved by his family and friends and brought a great deal of joy into the lives of many with the stories he would tell.

He returned to Ames in 1946 after serving for a year in the U.S. Navy. He worked in retail throughout his life. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time outside.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Justin) Ross Nostrala of Indianola; two grandsons, Seth and Caleb Nostrala of Indianola; his sister, Mary Sjulin of Hamburg; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents (Merl and Marjorie Ross); one brother; one brother-in-law; and one nephew.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Reiman Gardens.
