Obituary of Mrs. D. Denniston
Sarah A. Parker was born in Collins township, Story County, Ia. Nov. 29, 1853. Died at her home in Collins, Iowa, Sept. 17, 1916, age 62 years, 10 months and 18 days.
She was united in marriage to David Denniston Dec. 21, 1871. To this union were born three children. The youngest, Bessie Bell, died in infancy. The other two, Henry C. and Flora Holland, reside in Collins.
At an early age Mrs. Denniston was converted and united with the M. P. church of Collins, of which communion she remained a most devoted and loyal member until translated to the church triumphant.
Deceased is the last of a family of seven children, consisting of four brothers and two sisters.
She has been a constant sufferer for thirty-three years. Through it all she was a patient and always, resigned to the will of her Heavenly Father.
She was a most devoted wife and mother, a spendid neighber, a friend to all. A kind, practical, true, noble Christian woman. She leaves to mourn their loss a devoted husband, two children, eight grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. All who have ever known her will say with the poet:
Servant of God, well done;
Thy glorious warfare past;
The battle's fought, the race is run,
And thou art crowned at last.The funeral was held at the home in Collins Tuesday afternoon. A large number of old neighbors and friends were present to give their sympathy to the bereaved and pay their homage to the dutiful life passed to the reward promised to a good and faithful servant of her Master.
Rev. C. J. Nutt of Des Moines preached a great sermon of strong Christian assuraance. His faith was unfaltering as he told of the patient, helpful and loving life of deceased, and her entrance into the joys of her Lord. "She did what she could."
A ladies' choir sang sweet songs of Christian joy and tender memory. The floral offerings were rich and beautiful.
Relatives at the funeral from a distance included J. C. and Sam Woods from Kensington, Kans., C. B. Woods from Gaylord, Kans., Mr. and Mrs. George Clegg of Valley Junction, Iowa; Chas. Parker of Bert, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fisher of Des Moines, Iowa; George Denniston of Oklahoma City, Okl.; Mr. and Mrs. Ode Parker of Maxwell, Mrs. Minnie B. Holland and Mrs. Grace Hoffman of Maxwell.

The people of this community give sincerest sympathy to the bereaved husband and family.
