Jackson Lee Blaess, 2, of Des Moines, adored son, died peacefully surrounded by his parents and family Saturday, March 11, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., on his second birthday, Thursday, March 16, at St. Ambrose Cathedral.
A gift to all that knew him, Jackson attended Mercy Child Development Center, where he grew and excelled under the guidance and love of his teachers and joyful play with his friends. His contagious laugh and his beautiful eyes captured the hearts of everyone he met. He loved running, dogs, playing in water and helping his Dad with any project he was working on. Being right at the center of the action was his favorite place to be - second only to the loving arms of his parents.
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Amy (Lee) Blaess; a soon-to-be-sibling; grandparents, Karen Blaess, Darrell and Katie Blaess, Bill and Ramona Lee; great-grandparents, Verne Schwien, and Marvin and Darlene Blaess; aunts and uncles include, Doug and Cindy Lee, Mike and Melanee Stanbrough, Rich and Molly Lee, David and Stacy Phelps, Chris Blaess, Irene Blaess, Mark Blaess and 11 wonderful, loving cousins.Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Westover Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to Mercy Child Development Center.
