Death of Mrs. Silas McQuiston

On Tuesday morning at Maxwell, occurred the death of Mrs. Silas McQuiston. The deceased was well known to the people of Collins neighborhood, many of whom were present at the funeral Wednesday.

OBITUARY

Susan Kester was born in Tuscarora County, Ohio, January 27, 1837. When a child, she moved with her parents to LaGrange Co, Indiana, where they remained seven years and where, in 1855 she was united in marriage to Silas I. McQuiston. Soon after they moved to Jasper Co., Iowa, where they llived about ten years, then they removed to a farm near Collins, Story Co., on which they resided 46 years, until in 1911, they moved to Maxwell. The deceased lived there until her death on the morning of August 12, 1913, aged 76 years, 6 months and 15 days.

To Mr. and Mrs. McQuiston were born 9 children, six girls and three boys. Two of the boys died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. W. A. Parker, died at the age of 47 years. There remains to mourn her loss, the husband, five daughters and one son, one sister and two brothers, besides many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. McQuiston united with the Methodist Protestant church at Peoria some 40 years ago during the pastorate of Rev. Henry Rosenberger. She remained a christian until the end, expressing repeatedly her willingness to go at the Master's call, and faced the end in the faith of the Master, in which she lived.

Funeral services were conducted from the home in Maxwell, by Rev. A.P.Walton of the Presbyterian church and interment was made in the Collins cemetery.
