THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, February 11, 2006.

Mrs. Leota Frazier Cobb passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

A Memorial Service and burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Peace Lutheran Church, 6015 Frieden Church Road, Gibsonville, N.C.

Leota was the only daughter of the late Lula and J. Lee Frazier of Guilford County. Her day of birth was June 17, 1909.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and attended Elon College. Being civic-minded, a keen interest was shown in community affairs, especially the school systems. She took a special interest in Parent Teachers Associations, and devoted time and effort to projects raising funds. She was intensely active in 4-H Club projects and achievement awards for young farm individuals. She regularly attended other community-formed groups such as the Garden Club and the Home Demonstration Club, of which she was a former president.

She and her husband, Numa, were former members of the North Carolina Grange and Farm Bureau. A group of Greensboro citizens and Guilford County residents organized a club called "Friends of the Land," which was interested in promoting environmental protection. They elected her as president, and she devoted time and effort to purifying a local polluted stream.

She married Numa W. Cobb of Gibsonville on Sept. 12, 1931. At the time of his death, they had been married for 69 1/2 years. Five children were born of this union. Dolphine, the eldest is deceased. She is survived by four children, Nelda Christian, wife of the late Dr. Lauren Christian of Ames; Dr. N. Watt Cobb Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Greensboro; Dr. Stephen R. Cobb and wife, Deb of Greensboro; Eric F. Cobb and wife, Sandra of Gibsonville. Six grandchildren survive: Chandra Christian, associated with the Veterinary School at N.C. State University and residing in New Hill, N.C.; Dr. Russell Christian, practicing dentistry in Mt. Horeb, Wis., married to Chris Christian; Dr. Numa Watt Cobb III, practicing orthodontics in Greensboro, N.C., married to Blanca Cobb and Father of Ava and Aidan; Erin Cobb Hoeg, a pharmacist and married to Jens Hoeg and mother of Lars and Gwen, residing in Chapel Hill, N.C.; Russell Cobb, V.P. of Marketing and Sales of a family-owned business and residing in Raleigh, N.C.; Matt Cobb, enrolled at Northwestern Kellogg MBA Program and married to Rachel Cobb and residing in Chicago, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, R. Alton Frazier and the Reverend Roy Frazier.

Mrs. Cobb possessed a love of reading, writing short stories, composing poetry and playing the piano. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the passion of
her later years, and she firmly believed in a happy and successful life for them. Sadly, but true, she stated, "we are all simple children playing in the sand."

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Forbis and Dick, North Elm Street, and following the church service at the church fellowship hall.

The family has requested that memorials be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 6015 Frieden Church Rd., Gibsonville, N.C. 27249.
