THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, January 17, 2006.

Ethel Husmoe, 88, formerly of Wausau, Wis., died Sunday, Jan. 15, at Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Randall.

Ethel was born June 8, 1917, in Clear Lake, S.D., to John and Christine Brekken. She married Arthur Husmoe Nov. 26, 1948. They resided in Wausau, Wis., until 2002 when they moved to Story City.

She is survived by one son, John of Eden Prairie, Minn.; one daughter, Cheryl (Jim) Mastro of Bemidji, Minn.; five grandchildren, Kristin, Julie and Emily Husmoe and Paul and Amber Mastro; one sister, Thora Kinseth of Story City; and three brothers, Jay (Leone) Brekken of Story City, Burdette (Barbara) Brekken of San Marino, Calif., and Burdell (June) Brekken of Fountain Hills, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Elim Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 630 Adams, Wausau, WI, 54403 or Elim Lutheran Church, Randall, IA.

Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City is in charge of arrangements.
