THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, December 18, 2005.

Betty (Billie) Wilson, 91, of Ames and formerly of Des Moines, died Friday, Dec. 16, at her home. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at First Evangelical Free Church of Ames.

Betty was born Nov. 30, 1914, in Kansas and moved to Des Moines at a young age. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines. She married Kenneth W. Wilson July 21, 1933. He preceded her in death in 1977.

She was a homemaker and also was employed at Iltis Lumber Company and Joseph Jewelry in Des Moines. She was the mother of two sons, Douglas R. (Judy) of Panora, and Dennis (Diane) of Ames.

Betty was a member of First Evangelical Free Church in Ames. She continued to be very active, even driving a friend to a luncheon the day before she died.

She wrote part of her own obituary and left it in a folder. It reads "She is the grandmother of four beautiful grandchildren, Danny Wilson of Ames, Debi Estrada of Orlando, Jacque Gorgas of Ankeny and Jodi Wilson of West Des Moines. With both the love of Jesus Christ and the greatest grandchildren in the world, Gabriella, Steven, David, Hadie, Emily, Chloe and Sophia - she kept going to a great age."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; one baby daughter; and her parents, Ruth and Burt Henderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to First Evangelical Free Church of Ames.
