THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, December 16, 2005.

Clinton Joseph Brooks, 55, of Jewell and formerly of Nevada died Thursday, Dec. 15, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada with Pastor Scott Milsom officiating. Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Clint was born on May 2, 1950, in Ames to LaVern A. and Dorris E. (Price) Brooks. He was a 1968 Nevada High School graduate. Clint married Nancy L. Choplin on Dec. 17, 1969. He was recently employed by Hach Chemical in Ames and also had worked as an assistant manager for the Iowa State University Dairy Farm in Ankeny and Ames. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, fossil hunting, woodworking and hunting. Clint was an accomplished handy man and helped remodel the church kitchen.

Clint is survived by his son, Adam J. Brooks of Jewell; his life partner, Denise Risdal of Story City; two brothers, Dennis L. Brooks of Ventura, Calif., and David P. (Linda) Brooks of Jupiter, Fla.; and two sisters, Connie J. Pierce of Waukee and Carol E. (Ted) Griffieon of Altoona.

Clint was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, in 1994; his father, LaVern, in 1968; and his mother, Dorris, on Oct. 16, 2004.

Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 18, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Memorials may be directed to the ISU Trumpeter Swan Restoration Committee, Department of Natural Resources Ecololgy and Management, 124 Science II, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa 50011-3221.
