Mary Jane Jackson
Mary Jane Snyder was born in Clintondale, Clinton Co., Pa., Sept. 30, 1830. Died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. Eda Springman, of Story City, Iowa, March 21, 1904, aged 73 yrs., 5 mo., 21 days. She was married to William A. Jackson at Hamburg, Pa. May 21, 1850. Moved to Stephenson County, Illinois, May 30, 1854 and located at Cedarville, Illinois, where Mr. Jackson died Mar. 18, 1862. Three children were born to them, Joseph B. Jackson of Jewell City, Kan., Miss Anna E. Jackson of Jewell City, Kan. and Mrs. S. Eda Springman of Story City, Iowa. They with five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, two brothers, Daniel B. Snyder of Lyons, Iowa, Wesley J. Snyder of Freeport, Illinois; two sisters, Mrs. Rachael Clingman of Austin, Minn. and Mrs. Susie D. Jones of Gilbert Station, Iowa, remain to follow after. All honored and respected persons walking in the footsteps of a noble and christian parentage. One sister, Mrs. Katy A. McCammon of Story City, Iowa, and one brother, Rev. C. C. Snyder of Riverside, Ill. precede her to the spirit world. Mother Jackson gave her heart to the Savior while young in years. She was a member of the Methodist church at Cedarville, Illinois, for about thirty years and a member of the Evangelical church at Center Schoolhouse, Story Co., Iowa for a little over twenty years.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. W. Shuler, of Stanhope, Iowa, a life long and intimate friend of the deceased.
Interment and services were held at Center Schoolhouse at 2:30 p. m. Mar. 24, 1904.
