MRS. C. A. BURKHART

Mrs. C. S. Burkhart, about 75 years of age, a former resident of Zearing, died Monday at her home in Riverside, Calif. Burial will be at Zearing, by the side of her husband.

Her maiden name was Sadie Williams, and she was a native of Illinois, but came to Iowa as a girl and the family settled in Zearing.

There she was married to Charles A. Burkhart, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Burkhart, pioneer northern Story county family.

Later they moved to South Dakota, where the husband was in business, and at the time of his death, 22 years ago, was Secretary of State in South Dakota.

In her immediate family she leaves two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Albaugh of Glendale, Calif., and Mrs. Merle Laycock of McAllen, Texas, and one son, Lyle Burkhart of Beverley, Nebr., have passed away since the death of the husband and father.

Besides her son and daughters, she leaves three sisters, they being Mrs. Jesse Armstrong of Zearing, Mrs. Belle Armstrong of Fargo, N. D., and Mrs. Jennie Price of Marshalltown. Mrs. Queen Banks of Nevada is a sister-in-law.
