Lawrence "Abe" C. Corbin, 59, Nevada, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 1989 at Story County Hospital following a lengthy heart ailment. Cause of death was congestive heart failure.
Corbin was born Jan. 8, 1930 in Nevada to Hugh and Emma (Wirth) Corbin. He was a Nevada resident his entire life. He was married to Luetta Appelgate on Jan. 28, 1950.
Survivors include his wife, Luetta, three daughters, Claudene Staab of Marcus, IA, Karen Myers and Elaine Crabbs, both of Nevada, eight grandchildren, five brothers, Edward of Newport News, VA, Jack, Jerry, Don and Ron, all of the Davenport area; and three sisters, Mary Fincham of Nevada and Rose Schebler and Iona Ricketts both of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother, Jimmy.
Corbin was a retired office manager in the Story County Engineer's Office.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a graduate of Nevada High School, class of 1948. He was a Veteran of the United States Armed Forces.
The funeral was Thursday, Feb. 9, 1989 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Fr. John Herzog presiding. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
