COLO ITEMS

The following ----- --- has been handed - ----- - --- ---- wh-- - --- of interest to the people -- ----- -------- who regret ---- --- the death of Mrs. Edd Carver who ----- a number of years ago with her parents. Mr. Carver operated a drug store in Colo at that time in the building which is now Adolph Kleinschmidt's shoe shop. He was a brother of Roy Carver and Mrs. F. M. Martin of this place. The item reads as follows: Saturday, March 16, funeral services for Mrs. Mary Carver, whose sudden death Thursday night ------ her daughter Mrs. Erma Saunders of Greeley, Colo. and their many friends in Boulder --- -- ---- ------ -- Monday morning at the Hall Kelso mortuary. The request that she made some ----- ------ ----- her funeral will be carried out in detail by her daughter. Services will be in charge of Rev. - O. Beckman of the Methodist church and Queen Esther chapter of the Eastern Star. Members of the Boulder War Mothers association of the State Good Mothers of the Rebekah lodge and American Legion Auxiliary will attend in large numbers. Members of the Legion will serve as pall bearers. She was born Sept. 21, 1871 at Belle Plaine, Benton county, Iowa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith. She was married to Edward J. Carver at Colo, Ia. in 1892* and with him and the other members of the family came to Colorado in 1909. Mr. Carver died June 11, 1917. He was a former druggist at Lyons in Boulder county. Mrs. Saunders arrived from Greeley and was joined by her daughter Mrs. Ruth Harmon and Mr. Harmon of Louisville. Besides Mrs. Harmon there are two other grandchildren, Marjorie and Elaine Saunders of Greeley. Mrs. Carver will be buried beside her son, Floyd Carver, who left Prep school during the World war to enroll under the colors. He died at Wilbur Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio Oct. 10, 1918 of influenza.

March 15 -- Mrs. Mary Carver, past president of Boulder War Mothers and a former state officer of that organization was found dead at -- o'clock this morning by Mrs. Sarah Bradford, an employee of the Albany hotel as she entered Mrs. Carver's room in the course of her round of work. Mrs. Carver was lying on the floor near the dresser and had been dead 12 to 15 hours, according to Coroner George Howe who reported an inquest would not be necessary. Death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage and she is thought to have been stricken shortly after 7:30 last night as she was not seen after that hour. She had a stroke last November and was removed to the Community hospital. She recovered rapidly and was taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Erma Saunders at 702 14th Ave., Greeley, Colo. On Feb. 17, Mrs. Carver returned to Boulder to attend to business and was planning to return to her daughter's home tomorrow. The daughter and three grandchildren are the only surviving relatives. A son, Floyd Carver, died while in service with the U. S. army during the World war. His death occurred in an army camp in this country. Mrs. Carver's husband died about 20 years ago in Lyons, Colo., where he operated a drug store. Following his death Mrs. Carver returned to Boulder and lived for a number of years at 2237 Pine St. For several years she was connected with the Nelson Coal company as bookkeeper. She was an active member of the Boulder chapter of American War Mothers and served as president of the chapter and in other official capacities. She also held several minor offices in the State War Mothers organization. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and of Ivy Rebekah lodge No. 51.
