Mrs. Nora Wave Harrison was born to Jackson and Emma Caldwell at their home near Mansfield, IL on May 27, 1863. She passed to her crowning on Aug 23, 1944, from her home at Ames, IA. The days of her earthly pilgrimage are thus numbered at 61 years, two months and 26 days. She grew to woman hood in the community of her birth. In 1906 she came to Iowa for her marriage to Arthur Warren, whom she had known in the old home community. Their home was mode on various farms in the central part of Story county until 1924 when Mr. Warren’s death came through heart failure.
To this home was given five sons and a daughter, all of whom are living to mourn their loss of the loved mother. After the father’s death, the family left the farm and made their home in Ames. Here she met Mr. Charley H. Harrison. The acquaintance ripened into a deeper feeling and they united in marriage on Aug 31, 1927. One sone, Frederick Harrison, was born to this union. The loving husband with his son are also in deep sorrow and loneliness because of their bereavement. Mr and Mrs Harrison have lived in this neighborhood of Ames during the larger part of their life together. Her friends knew her as a kind neighbor, a loving mother and a loyal wife.
She is survived by her husband, Charley E. Harrison, their son, Frederick; her six children by her former marriage, Ralph Warren, in the armed service in the navy, now stationed in Hawaii; Albert, Floyd, and Earl Warren, all of Ames, Willard Warren who is in the Marine Corps stationed in Hawaii, and the daughter, Mrs. Ferrell Carr of Ames, IA. There are also three step-children, Oscar Warren, Mrs Ethel Sills of Ames, and Ed Warren or Oregon. Of her father’s family, she is survived by a brother, Cloyd Caldwell of Fort Dodge, IA, and a sister, Mrs Minnie Stark of Boxholm, IA. She leaves 25 grandchildren, one of whom is in the navy and stationed in Australia.
When she was but a girl of 13 in 1896, she confessed the Christ as her Savior and joined the church in Mansfield, IL. Shortly after making her home in Ames, she brought her membership to the Church of Christ here. In 1932 when the husband and children wished to join the United Brethren Church, she secured a transfer and they came into the church as a family.
In the latter years, Mrs Harrison had been a semi-invalid which did not permit her to give of her strength and effort to the church as she would have liked. Although under the doctor’s care the last few years, her home going came unexpectedly to all the loved ones.
Funeral services were held at the United Brethren church Friday, Aug 25. The pastor, Rev. Fred Riggs, officiated. Songs requested were sung by Mrs. Rena Ball and Mrs. Mona Lawson.
The pall bearers were Glade Sills, Gordon Hoffman, Harold Green, Forest Green, James Vogt and Orle May. Burial was in the Family lot at Gilbert.
