Rites Held Here For N. E. Johnson
Funeral services for Ness Erick Johnson, 89, 813 Sixteenth street, Des Moines, who died Saturday morning in the Broadlawns hospital in Des Moines, were conducted from the Ryan Funeral Home at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday, Jan 3, with Dr. C. N. Swihart officiating.
Lowell Shickell sang two songs "Old Rugged Cross" and "Lead Me Gently Home, Father." He was accompanied at the organ by Miss Beeula Settle.
The casket bearers were Lee Hoel, Pete Larson, Fred Sorensen, Harry Sorensen and Kermit Anderson.
Burial was in the family lot of the Nevada cemetery.
Obituary
Born in Denmark, Sept. 18, 1866, son of Ness and Christine Johnson, Ness E. Johnson came to this country in early life. He was married to Christine Anderson, June 12, 1895 in Nevada.
For a number of years he was a rural mail carrier and was a Nevada grocer. He was a member of Memorial Lutheran church.
For the past 20 years he lived in Des Moines, where his death occurred at Broadlawns Hospital Dec. 31, 1955.
He is survived by the wife Christine and by three children, two sons, Fred C. Johnson of Detroit, Mich., and Arthur Johnson of Fullerton, Calif. and one daughter, Mrs. Garry Shuman of Nasa, Calif. He also leaves two brothers, Pete Johnson of Nevada, and Theodore Johnson of Boulder, Colo., and also leaves one granddaughter.
