LOURANA JANE BERRY
Mrs. Lourana Jane Berry, age 92, passed away at the Clearwater Memorial Hospital in Bagley, Minn. on Thursday, March 7th. Mrs. Berry was born in Odebolt, Iowa on September 20, 1888 to parents Franklin and Louise Sawyer.
Mrs. Berry was married to Robert D. Tressler in Story City, Iowa on December 15, 1897. Mr. Tressler died July 6, 1932. She was later married to Fred Berry in Gilbert, Iowa on June 15, 1934. Mr. Berry passed away in August of 1951.
Mrs. Berry lived many years in Iowa, moving to Clearbrook, Minnesota to live with her son, Byron Tressler in August of 1969. She later became a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in Clearbrook in May of 1971, living there until his passing. While in Iowa she was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Gilbert and also active in the Ladies Missionary Society of the church.
Survivors include two children, Byron Tressler of Clearbrook, Minnesota and Mrs. Myrle Foster of Gilbert. One step daughter (Carol) Mrs. Stanley Sherman of Lexington, Nebraska, three sisters, Mrs. Grace Davis of Ames, Mrs. Ruby Musgrave of Boone and Mrs. Queen Mathison of Ankeny, one brother, Delna Sawyer of Denver, Colorado, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Also several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son, three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 9th at 3 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Home Chapel in Clearbrook, Minnesota. The Rev. Richard Larson officiated and burial was in the Center Cemetery at Story City, Iowa under the direction of the Cease Funeral Home of Bagley, Minnesota.
