L. O. Tegland Died Sunday At High Age

L. O. Tegland, 85, died Sunday in his home in Ames of a heart condition. He had been ill one week.

Funeral services are planned for today at Bethesda Lutheran church in Ames with Rev. J. L. Knutson officiating. Burial will be in Story City cemetery.

Mr. Tegland is survived by his wife; four sons, Omar of Story City, Milford of San Francisco, Cal., Alden of Santa Monica, Cal., and Rudolph of Oxnard, Cal.; two daughters Mrs. Edith Byram of East Landing, Mich., and Mrs. Mabel Schollmeyer of Ames; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Born Dec. 30, 1862, near Helmar in Kendall county, Ill., Mr. Tegland came to Story county with his parents when he was 11 years old. For 25 years he farmed south of Story City. He retired and moved to Story City and lived here several years. The past 10 years he has made his home in Ames.

He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran church and served on the Story City school board for several years. He was confirmed in St. Petri Lutheran church, and with his death there are now only three surviving members of his class.

His marriage to Bertha Nelson took place Sept. 14, 1891, at Helmar, Ill.
