Roy A. Sweet

Roy A. Sweet, 90, formerly of Story City, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 1991 at a nursing home in Mesa, Arizona. The body was cremated and memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City. Burial will be in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Rev. Ray Hampton will officiate at the services.

Roy was born June 7, 1901 in Colwell, Iowa. He married Tracie A. Zimmer on Jan. 1, 1925. They moved to Roland in 1931 and to Story City in 1933. He was the president and chairman of the board for Story County Bank in Story City for approximately 50 years. In 1953 he was named Outstanding Farm Banker of Iowa. In 1952 he served as president of the Iowa Bankers' Association, and on the first State Board of Public Instruction for six years.

Survivors include his wife, Tracie of Mesa, Arizona; one son, Robert Sweet of Mesa; one daughter, Susan Dees of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
