Clifford Swanson

Clifford O. Swanson, 73, Springfield, Ill., died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1986 in Springfield. Clifford was born July 10, 1914 at Alta. His parents were Kristen and William Swanson.

Clifford was the former owner of Swanson Hardware in Slater. He was a veteran of World War II and a Retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m. from the Immanuel Lutheran Church Chapel in Story City. The Rev. Stephen Anenson will be in charge. Burial will be at the Story City Municipal Cemetery. The body will lie in state Thursday evening, Dec. 18, after 6 p.m. at Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City.

Survivors include his wife Sylvia, Springfield; a son, Curtis, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; two daughters, Linda Carter and Kathryn Venters, both of Chathom, Ill.; four grandchildren; and one sister, Ellen Fergason.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
