Funeral services were held at St. Paul's church near Stanhope for Mrs. Joe Sunnoe Saturday with Rev. Walter E. Carlsson officiating. Burial was in the Story City cemetery.
Mrs. Orvella Anderson sang "At Sunset" and Emmett Olson and Mrs. Frederick Larson sang "In the Garden."
Casketbearers were Iver Okland, Gaylord Johnson, Nels Rognehaugh, Orville Paulson, Embert Munsen and Hawley Peterson, all brothers-in-law of the deceased.
A large sum of money was given in her memory to missions, Story City Memorial Hospital, Randall Bible School and Randall Bible Camp.
The following obituary was read by the pastor:
Julia Matilda Sunnoe nee Gustafson, eldest daughter of Gustaf and Esther Gustafson, was born in Sioux City, Iowa, April 11, 1897. After a lingering illness she passed away at her home December 12, 1951.When she was about 3 years old she and her parents moved to Lake View, where she spent her childhood. She attended the Lake View high school from which she was graduated in 1914, an honor student. She had approximately two or more years of college training and held a life certificate for teaching. She taught a number of years in both country and town schools.
May 14, 1924, she was united in marriage to Joseph E. Sunnoe at the Immanuel church in Story City, and since then has made her home on their farm northwest of Story City.
She was affiliated with the St. Paul's Lutheran church in their vicinity and was an active member in the ladies aid. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband; her father, G. E. Gustafson, formerly of Lake View but who is now making his home with a daughter in Storm Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Stedwell (Frances), Storm Lake, and Mrs. Lloyd (Blanche) Nash, of Jewell; and one brother, Ray E. Gustafson of St. Paul, and many other relatives and friends.
