THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, November 29, 2005.

Robert F. Phillips, 80, of Ames, died Friday, Nov. 25, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Services were Monday, Nov. 28, at Adams Funeral Home. Burial was in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Robert was born April 24, 1925, in Des Moines to Robert M. and Bessie (Russell) Phillips. He graduated from Roosevelt High in Des Moines. He then attended 4 C's Business College at Drake University and graduated from Iowa State. He worked as the studio operations manager at WOI-TV. He also served in the Navy during World War II. He married Helen McConnell Oct. 30, 1953.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; two daughters, Delana (Rick) Powers of Good Thunder, Minn., and Rhonda (Cory) Wandling of Ames; three sisters, Edna Dade of Des Moines, Helen M. Phillips of Des Moines and Wilma Rafferty of Dubuque; one brother, Walter Phillips of Des Moines; 15 grandchildren, Brenna, Bethel, Kyla, Karis and Natalie Powers, and Kyle Matthew, Robert Michael, Cherie, Stephanie, Emily, James, Marjorie, Luke, Tina and Aaron Wandling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kyle; one brother, Arthur; and one sister, Lola Sunwall.
