Stanley H. Leland
Stanley H. Leland, 88, died Monday, July 2, 1984 at the Story City Memorial Hospital. Stanley had been ill since Jan. 1, suffering from complications from a broken hip.
Stanley was born Dec. 12, 1895 at Humboldt, Iowa. His parents were William F. and Mary Leland. On May 10, 1916 he was united in marriage with Helen Jackson. They lived in Kossuth County until 1923 when they moved to Ames. In 1938 they move near Randall and to Story City in 1968.
Stanley was State of Iowa Lakes' Custodian from 1929 to 1934. He worked at the Highway Commission and Diesel Service in Ames. He was owner and operator of the Randall Machine and Welding for 20 years until his retirement in 1964.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 5, at 1:30 p.m. from the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City. The Rev. Stephen Anenson will be in charge. Burial will be at the Story City Municipal Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Helen, Story City; one son, Glen of Ames; two daughters, Lenore Nordyke, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and Bernice Roberts, Garden Grove, California; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
