Ruth M. Larson
Ruth Mabel Larson, 83, Story City, passed away Monday, April 27, 1992, at Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City, where she had resided since Nov. 30, 1979. Funeral services were held there on Thursday, April 30 at 10:00, Rev. Ron Feruerhak officiated the services. Arlie Swenson was the organist. Rev. Rolfe Johnstad sang "Beautiful Savior" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Casket bearers were Orlin Anderson, Orville O'Connell, Richard Smith, John Larson, Dave Larson, and Arlen Hougland. Burial was in Story City Municipal Cemetery.
Ruth Mabel Larson was born on March 13, 1899 at Story City, Iowa to Ella (Erickson) Larson and Sjur Lewis Larson. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church, Story City. She lived in Los Angeles, California for many years where she clerked and also made hats at the May Company. Upon the illness of Ruth's mother she returned to Story City to help care for her and also worked at the Pioneer Store. She later moved to Des Moines and worked for many years at Younkers, retiring in 1968. She entered Bethany Manor in November of 1979. She was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Des Moines.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Bervin (Gladys) Johnson, Story City; and one brother, Winfred Larson, Story City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant brother, two infant sisters, one sister, Mrs. Thomas (Anna) Johnson, and four brothers, Theodore Larson, Sherman Larson, Ingram Larson and Lester Larson.
