Arvie S. Jacobson

Arvie Silas Jacobson, son of Thomas and Lizzie Jacobson, was born Oct. 17, 1903 on a farm north of Story City. He died Feb. 27, 1984 at Bethany Manor in Story City. He was baptized and confirmed and was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City. On November 25, 1925 he married Nora G. Fardal. For 54 years he farmed and during the past 33 years had operated Jacobson Feed and Seed Store in Story City. He was a member of the city council and was mayor of Story City.

Survivors include four children, Paul, Story City, Richard, Iowa City, Donna Kammin, Story City, and Allan, Stuart, Florida; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Reuben Jacobson, Boxholm, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 1, 1984, at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastors Orville Sanderson and Stephen Anenson in charge. Greetings were brought by Pastor Enoch Hall and Skip Jacobson. Janet Olson, organist, accompanied Chad Kammin and Craig Swenson as they sang "Amazing Grace" and Craig Swenson sang "Old Rugged Cross." The congregation sang, "Blessed Assurance" and "Beautiful Savior." Casket bearers were Chad Kammin, Doug Jacobson, Wade Jacobson, Skip Jacobson, Bill Jacobson and Gary Blomberg. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.
