James "JC" Christianson, 57, of Fremont, Neb., died Sunday, Nov. 6, in Lincoln, Neb.He was born Sept. 10, 1948, in Eldora. He graduated from high school in Zearing in 1966.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from February 1967 to April 1971. He saw duty in Greenland and Italy, and he also was stationed at the Scribner Air Base. Following his military service, he returned to Zearing, where he farmed and raised hogs with his brother.
He married Rita Wagner of Hooper, Neb., Sept. 7, 1974. They remained in Zearing until moving to Fremont in 1983. He was the owner and operator of Christianson Trucking, L.L.C. and his trucks were currently under lease to Fremont Contract Carriers and Fox-Smythe. He was a member of First Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Rita; one son, Chad and his wife, Dawn, Christianson of Hooper and their daughter, Taylor; two daughters, Michaela Christianson of Omaha, Neb., and Gina Christianson of Urbandale; his mother, LaVonne Christianson of Zearing; and one brother, Kevin and his wife, Cecelia, Christianson of Lisbon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lavern; and one niece, Shalee.
The funeral service was Thursday, Nov. 10, at First Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Rev. Dr. Delmar D. Wiemers and the Rev. Karl F. Rist officiating. Following the service, the Fremont Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 and VFW Post 854 presented the U.S. flag.
Burial will be at a later date in Hooper Cemetery. A memorial will be established.
