Mother Dies Leaving Twelve Young Children
Funeral rites for Mr. Clarence Airhart, 37, Nevada woman who passed away so suddenly at the Iowa University hospital late Monday, will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p. m. at the Morfoot funeral home, after which the body will be taken to Gilbert for burial.
This mother of 12 children, ranging in age from 2 months to 16 years, has been ill for some time and early Monday was taken to the University hospital at Iowa City, where she died shortly after arrival.
Born at White Heath, Ill., Jan. 11, 1904, her maiden name was Gladys Vera Welch, a daughter of Mrs. Charles Harrison of Ames and the late James Welch. She was married first to Albert Casperson and them three children were born.
In 1927 she was married to Clarence Airhart and to this union nine children were born. She leaves her husband and the 12 children, all of whom are living in the home.
The children are Alberta, Anna Maw and James Casperson and Junior, Donald, Elnora, Wanda Jean, Shirley, Lois, Warl, Larry and Sandra Kay Airhart.
Besides these she leaves her mother, one step-sister, two step-brothers, six half brothers and a half sister.
She had not been well since the birth of the last child and on Saturday of last was taken to Iowa sanitarium for care, but on Monday was taken to Iowa City and placed in the hospital, but she passed away at 2:30 a. m. Kidney infection contributed to the cause of death.
