Funeral Service Held on Sunday for Jimmie Eyanson

Funeral rites for little Jimmie Eyanson, 13, sixth grade Nevada schoolboy, who died at the University hospital at Iowa City Thursday, were held at the Morfoot Funeral home Sunday afternoon.

Relatives, schoolmates and friends filled the funeral chapel to capacity for the service which was conducted by Rev. Jos. M. Kennedy of Central Presbyterian church, with Mrs. Armstrong at the piano.

Members of his class attended the service in a body and the pallbearers, Jerry Soseman, Jack Voogd, Junior Bullock, Bob Upchurch, Bob Brodie and Haynes Lobaugh, were classmates.

A large floral offering which adorned the casket was also furnished by his schoolmates.

The following brief lifesketch of the boy was read during the service, by the minister.

Jimmie Eyanson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Eyanson, was born in Nevada on the 28th day of April, 1927. He lived his entire life here passing from this life while still only thirteen years of age. Since attaining school age he has been a pupil in our local schools being enrolled this year in the 6th grade.

His schoolmates knew him to be a boy of happy and friendly disposition and he will be greatly missed as a member of his class. His courtesy and friendliness were extended to his teachers and he valued their good will and friendship.

Jimmie was a most happy member in the family home, showing here his genial nature and his thoughtfulness for others. He was a loving brother and a devoted son, expressing as one of his last thoughts that he would like to be of help to his mother.

Some time ago he developed a form of mastoid infection and about two weeks ago was taken to the University hospital in Iowa City for necessary treatment. Complications developed which made it impossible for him to recover his health and death came to him peacefully on December 19, while he was being cared for by his mother, who remained with him at the hospital. He did not complain during his illness though much of the time he suffered severe pain.

He is survived by his parents and five brothers: Donald, Richard, Leo, Tommy and Glen and by three sisters: Joan, Kathleen and Mary Lou. Many other relatives and his many friends will sorrow because of the passing of one who showed so much promise.
