A. C. MOLSTRE CAME TO THIS COUNTRY IN 1881
Adolph C. Molstre died at Ebenezer hospital in Madison, Minn., on Sunday evening, August 24, 1941, after having been ill since the death of his wife, who preceded him by two months.
Mr. and Mrs. Molstre moved to Madison from Story City three years ago. Shortly after moving there to live with their daughter, Mrs. M. H. Peterson, Mrs. Molstre suffered a stroke and was confined to her bed for over two years. She passed away June 21. Mr. Molstre was quite ill at times during his wife's illness After her death he became worse and spent over four weeks in the hospital.
He was born in Haugesund, Norway, Sept. 3, 1866, and was nearly 75 years of age at the time of his death. He came to America at the age of 15 and was married to Rachel Soren over fifty years ago.
For a number of years before and after his marriage Mr. Molstre was connected with the Story City Butter Tub Co. Later he farmed for seven years in northwestern Minnesota, ran a mercantile store for eight years at Dawson, Minn., then moved back to Story City to superintend the Old People's Home and Hospital for 15 years. In all the years he held a high position in his church, where he was greatly esteemed, as well as in the various communities where he and his family have made their home.
Deceased in survived by three sons and a daughter, as follows: Bernhard of Glenwood, Minn., Martin of International Falls, Minn., Rev. Harry C. Molstre of Fenimore, Wis., and Mrs. M. H. (Alma) Peterson of Madison. Two daughters preceded him in death. Seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
The burial took place Wednesday, August 27, with services at Ness Lutheran church. Rev. S. C. Simonson officiated, assisted by Rev. P. O. Wee of Dawson, Rev. B. F. Molstre of Pierpont, S. D., spoke briefly in behalf of the family. The casket bearers were H. L. Halvorson, J. L. Jacobson, Simon Braaten, M. L. Halvorson, Joel B. Stageberg and Herman Hendrickson. Interment was made in Dawson.
