JIM MANGES DIED YESTERDAY AT AMES HOSPITAL
James E. Manges, 81, a resident of Story county since 1871, died in the Mary Greeley hospital at Ames early Wednesday. He had been taken to the hospital Sunday following a heart attack.
Born in Freeport, Ill., Feb. 26, 1860, Mr. Manges moved with his parents to a farm near Gilbert in 1871. He was employed at Ames for a number of years, and had made his home at Kelley in recent years.
Surviving are his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Abby Cortright of San Francisco; four brothers, Will and Clate of Gilbert, Sam of Boone, and Harley of Austin, Minn., and three sisters, Mrs. Oley Wold of Gilbert, Mrs. George Baldus of Story City and Mrs. Allie Gross of Boone.
Funeral arrangements have been made for 2 p.m., Friday from the Adams chapel at Ames. Rev. Holland of the Zenorsville Evangelical church will be in charge, and burial will be in the Gilbert cemetery.
