JULIA SAMPSON

Julia Sampson was born in Ovestebo, Norway, on March 6, 1852, her parents being Samson Pederson and Valjer Pederson Ovstebo. Her childhood year were spent there and she also was confirmed there.

In the summer of 1874, she, in company with her brother and his family, immigrated to America. They came directly to Story City and this, with the exception of two years in South Dakota has been her home ever since.

She entered the Sunset Homes on December 16, 1929, and passed away there Saturday, Feb. 3, 1940, at the age of eighty seven years, ten months, and twenty-seven days.

On Tuesday, Feb. 6, a brief service was held at the chapel, in the Home, at one o'clock. Rev. Buland delivered a short sermon in the Norwegian language. The funeral service was held at the Immanuel church, of which she had long been a member at two o'clock, with Rev. Heimarck in charge. Mrs. Arvie Jacobson and Mrs. Benj. Anderson rendered a hymn, "Heaven Is My Home." The pallbearers were Wier Thorson, Theodore Larson, Ed Wierson, Theoroy Wierson, John Erickson and Marion Wierson.

She was laid to rest in Fairview cemetery.

Her remaining relatives in this country are five nephews, and three nieces, namely, Peter Wierson, Grenora, N. D., K. S. Olson, Kenyon, Minn., O. S. Wierson, Roland, M. C. Wierson and s. S. Wierson, Story City, Mrs. Dan Danielson, Carpio, N. D., Mrs. Ole Olson, Randall and Miss Sophie Olson, Chicago, Illinois.
