Lew W. Carr, son of James and Ellen Carr, was born in the state of Indiana December 19, 1860, and died December 27, 1943 at the Story county home. He was taken sick November 27, and his high age and feeble strength were unable to cope with the illness, and he lingered bedfast a month and three days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Emily Jacobson December 13, 1911. In 1912 they bought a home in Story City where they lived until their health began to fail them. On January 9, 1943 thy moved to the county home to be taken care of.

Mr. Carr had been a well and strong man all his life until his last illness. He was the last one in the Carr family. His parents died when he was a young boy and a brother and three sisters grew up with him. He leaves his aged wife, who is totally blind, several nephews and nieces.

The funeral party accompanied the body to the cemetery at Roland where interment was made. Beautiful floral offerings and some money were given in his memory. Mrs. Carr wishes to thank all who assisted in so many ways, especially at the funeral.
