Death of O. A. Fuller.
Once more the messenger of Death has visited our city and another pair of hands have been folded across pulseless breast; another home has been saddened and another soul has gone home to its reward.
Mr. O. A. Fuller, was born in Iowa county, October 5, 1868, died at about seven o'clock, Sunday morning, June 27, 1897, aged 28 years, 8 months, and 22 days, the cause of his death bein heart disease. Funeral services were held in the Evangelical church at ten o'clock, Monday, conducted by Rev. Wirth, and the remains laid to rest in the Olson [Boe} cemetery north of town.
About six months ago Mr. Fuller was taken sick. In a few weeks, however, he so far recovered as to be able to walk down town, but in a day or two, he was worse again and from that time on he gradually grew weaker, reviving for a day or two but again sinking a little beyond what he had gained. For six long months he suffered thus, and death to him indeed was a happy relief.
A few weeks before he died he sought the consolation of religion, and in his declining days read his Bible a great deal. He had no fears of crossing the dark river of death, and as he stood on its brink he prayed that the time soon might come when he could enter its icy waters and be led to the shore beyond.
Mr. Fuller came to Iowa about nine years ago and has been engaged in the barber business most of the time since. He was a kind-hearted man and had many friends. He was married to Miss Hilda Pierson about four years ago and his wife and little son are left alone. He has one brother living here, the rest of the family relations residing in the west. His end was peaceful and he stepped out into eternity with the full consolation that he was going to a better home, where neither sickness nor sorrow come.
