Mrs. C. M. Sorenson desires to thank all those who so kindly assisted during the sickness and burial of her beloved husband. Death is sad at best, but it would be doubly so was it not for the aid and sympathy of friends. May those who have thus shown their friendship be long spared a like affliction is her wish.
DIED--After a lingering illness of several months duration Martin Sorenson passed away at his home in this city at 11:30 o'clock, Saturday night, at the age of twenty three years and six months. Early in the spring he was compelled to give up his draying, but only one week prior to his death was confined to his bed. He was a young man and leaves a wife and little girl babe to the mercy of the world. Before he was married Martin was a dissipated young man, but after marriage he settled down and took better care of himself. He never belonged to any church and never had a thought of the future until a few days before he died, when he prayed for the forgiveness of his sins, and day or two before he passed away he told those standing around him that he was going to a better home. Martin came to Story City seventeen years ago while yet a small lad. His mother died while he was young so he as been compelled to make his own way in the world. He was kind hearted and would do anything in his power to aid a friend. Funeral services were held at two o'clock Monday afternoon in St. Petri's church, conducted by Rev. Tanner and Rev. Wirth, after which the remains were laid peacefully to rest in the local cemetery. His relatives in Story are a wife and child and a sister. His father is yet living but it is not known where he is. The many friends of the deceased and also of the sorrowing wife and sister extend their sympathies to them in this sad bereavement.
