From Story City Herald July 14, 1938 (page 3)

MRS. T. T. SANDE

Mrs. T. T. Sande, whose maiden name was Inger Hovlandd, was born at Hovland, Etne, Norway, Sept. 10th, 1850, and died at Story City, Iowa, June 24, 1938 at the age of 87 years and 9 months. She was the youngest of 12 children, and the last one to pass away.

She was united in marriage at Etne, Norway, to T. T. Sande, June 10, 1872. It was the privilege of Mr. and Mrs. Sande to live together for 66 years. It may be true that it is what Mr. Sande said: "I believe the longer people live together the harder it is to part."

To this union five children were born, of which one died in infancy. The children who, with the father, mourn her passing are: Julia, Ingebrit, Alfred years. It may be that it is and near Story City. She also leaves 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.*

Fifty-six years ago Mr. and Mrs. Sande came to America and settled on their homestead two miles southeast of Story City, where they were farming until they retired and moved to Story City in 1916. While living on the farm they were members of Salem church, Roland, Iowa, after coming to Story City they have been faithful members of the Bethel church.

Mrs. Sande had not been well the last years, but she was able to be up and around until a few days before she passed away. Of her it can be truly said that she was a faithful wife and a kind-hearted mother and as such she will be greatly missed by her loved ones, and by all who had learned to know her. As a church we feel that a dear friend and co-worker has left us. As for Mrs. Sande, her passing was not a loss to her but a gain. Quietly she passed away resting securely in her Saviour's promise that "those who believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Funeral services were held from the home and Bethel church Monday, June 27th. A great audience was present in the church to pay their last respects to this good mother, wife and friend. Rev. G. O. Paulsrud conducted the funeral, and Philip Paulsrud sang two appropriate songs in the church. Pall bearers were M. Pierson, T. Nereim, J. Sunnoe, D. Munson, L. J. Townswick and M. Swenson. Interment was made at the Roland cemetery.

The following gifts were given to missions in Mrs. Sande's memory: from T. T. Sande and family, $50; from relatives and friends, $14.50, and from Bethel Aid society, $4.00.--Cor.
