MRS. D. B. OLSON LAID TO REST

Mrs. D. B. Olson died at her home in the south part of town last Friday, following a prolonged and painful sickness and after all that medical science and loving care on the part of her husband and sister, Mrs. Sheriff, could do.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Nelson at the home at 1:30 and in the St. Petri church at 2 o'clock, where a large concourse of relatives and friends were gathered to pay their last tribute of affection and respect.

The pallbearers were: Oliver Alsager and A. M. Henderson of this place, Martin Nelson of Randall, O. Moklebust of Thor, M. O. Theodorson of Jewell, and Nels Johnson of Gilbert.

Special numbers--What a Friend We Have in Jesus and Rock of Ages-- were sung by a quartet consisting of Mrs. Lester Henderson, Miss Alvina Holm, Melburn Dowhowe and Albert Larson, with Mrs. Jacobson at the piano.

Obituary

Alvilda Caroline Knivsland was born in Hamilton county, northwest of Story City, August 26,1879. She was thus at the time of her death 62 years, 5 months and 9 days old.

She was confirmed by Rev. N. G. Peterson September 27 1889. In the year 1898 she was united in marriage to Daniel B. Olson, also of Hamilton county. They made their home in Story City from that time until her death.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Olson leaves two sons to mourn her departure, namely Leonard of Faribault, Minn. and Palmer of Cedar Rapids; besides one brother, Henry Knivsland of Stanwood, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Dyvig of Radcliffe and Mrs. Ella Sheriff of Everett, Washington; also three grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Her parents, five brothers and two sisters have preceded her in death.

Mrs. Olson belonged to that fortunately large number of women who give themselves wholeheartedly to their homes, families and community, and in return she reaped a rich reward in the love of the members of her family and the deep affection of a whole circle of friends, all of whom grieve at her departure but find consolation in the assurance that she has gone to a better land.

She has wandered into an unknown land
And left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be since she lingers there
So think of her faring on as clear
In the love of there as the love of here
Think of her still as the same and say
She is not dead, she is just away.

Among those from a distance at the funeral were the following: Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Gibson, Scranton; Mr. and Mrs. I. G. Sime, Rolfe; Mrs. Josie Olson and Oscar Olson, Sioux Rapids; Luella Olson, Yankton, S. D.; Mrs. Elmer Hill and Mrs. Albert Rasmussen, Montour; Jonas Olson, Clear Lake; Mr. and Mrs. M. J.
