OBITUARY

ERICK G. BOYD

Erick G. Boyd was born on April 16, 1863, near Randall, Iowa. His parents were John and Margrethe Boyd, whose maiden name was Gronstad. He died May 5, 1937 at the age of 74 and 19 days. He joined in holy matrimony with Minnie Larson on October 3, 1890. To this union 6 children were born, George, Margretha, Andrew who died in infancy, Andrew, Mervin and Pearl, Mrs. Richard Nelson. All of his children have passed to the great beyond ahead of him except Marvin and Pearl. Besides his loving and dutiful wife and children, he leaves to mourn his departure 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, 1 brother Martin G. Boyd of Albert Lea, Minn. and a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral was conducted from the Bethel church, Story City, Rev. G. O. Paulsrud officiating and his body was laid to rest in the family lot in Fairview cemetery.

The pall-bearers were Osmund Vangness, T. Z. Henryson, John Sunnoe, John Lee, Andrew Owenson and L. J. Tjernagel.

Erick Boyd was baptized and confirmed in St. Petri church in Story City. He moved to and lived in Buckeye, Iowa about 20 years ago, in which place he joined the Hauge's church. He was a faithful and true church member and a good American citizen. Although his health was not good in later years and he suffered much, he was patient and resigned.

This community has lost a good man and a friend. If it can he said that no man had no enemy, it can be said of Erick Boyd.

A substantial amount was given to the mission in remembrance.

Those from a distance at the funeral were Martin G. Boyd, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Boyd, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Hendrickson, Mr. and Mrs. Esten Ophaug and Morris Henderson, all of Albert Lea, Minn. and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schlafke of Jewell.
