Obituary of Joseph Jacobson
Joseph Jacobson was born on a farm near Story City Dec. 2, 1865. He entered into eternal life Monday afternoon Sept. 3, at his home in Webster City. He would have been 69 years of age next December.
Mr. Jacobson moved to Webster City in 1897, and made that his home ever since. He has followed the trade of a carpenter and contractor all his life. As a young man just starting in his trade he helped to build the English Lutheran church, which had bee his house of worship ever since , and in which his funeral service was held.
As a child he was baptized in the Lutheran faith, and when about 15 years of age was confirmed in St. Petri Lutheran church in Story City. When the English Lutheran congregation was organized in Webster City he became one of the most faithful members of this congregation. He has served in practically every office and capacity in the congregation that a man can fill.
On Feb. 4, 1900, he was united in marriage to Miss Sophia Garness. Five children were born to them. Two have preceded him in death, one infant daughter and Ruth Gore, who died in 1930. He was a faithful husband and father, always interested in the highest good of his family.
He is survived by his wife and three children: Gladys, who teaches in the Chicago public schools; Earl N., of Des Moines, and Mrs. John Stearns of Webster City. There is one grandchild. There are two sisters and two brothers living: Mrs. Sarah Jorgenson of Story City, Mrs. J. L. Johnson of Butterfield, Minn., N. F. Jacobson of Mt. Vernon, S.D., and A. A. Jacobson of Monterey, Minn.
